Year 7 Dig Deep at Big Pit.

During the last week before half-term, Year 7 showed great resilience attending Big Pit and for some pupils, facing their fear of the dark, to learn all about our history of mining.
Year 7 Educational Visit to Big Pit
In the final week before the half-term break, all Year 7 pupils had the valuable opportunity to visit Big Pit National Coal Museum. Accompanied by staff and expert guides, students descended into the historic underground mine, where they learnt about the rich history of coal and iron mining in Wales.
The visit offered an immersive experience into the daily lives of miners, including the conditions they faced, and the essential role played by pit ponies. Pupils explored the bathing facilities used by miners and gained insight into the challenges of working underground, particularly for children during the industrial era.
We were incredibly proud of our Year 7 cohort, many of whom overcame a fear of the dark and emerged from the experience with a sense of pride and accomplishment. It was another successful and enlightening year of Big Pit learning. Well done, Year 7!
