Specially selected Y11 pupils from Eastern High School, and the federation of Michaelston Community College and Glyn Derw High School, were lucky enough to spend a weekend in London as part of their study for the new GCSE English Language exam.
Not only did they have the opportunity to visit the Royal Courts of Justice and the Houses of Parliament, they also went on the Jack the Ripper tour and took part in a sustainability workshop. They worked hard too: sitting two, two hour exams on the Saturday and Sunday morning in ‘swish’ hotel conference room surroundings.
All of the pupils were great fun and impeccably behaved. The only concern was regarding the sheer volume of food consumed; how can teenagers eat a three-course meal at Jamie’s Italian and then order Domino’s pizza back at the hostel? Also, while we’re asking a few questions, how is Connor Mason so good at pool?
Many thanks to Ms Buttle, Mr Hill, Ms Smith (and Ms Ellis from the federation) for giving up their weekend to entertain, educate and feed(!) 30 Year 11s. It was a blast!
